Command Sergeant Major Campbell enlisted into the United States Army Delayed Entry Program on February 26, 1992. Following his initial training, he served in Korea with the 19th Support Command as a Single Channel Radio Operator followed by an assignment with the 1111th Signal Battalion where he served as an HF radio operator and an Emergency Actions Cell member until he was released from active duty on May 12, 1996. He joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard on May 13, 1996 in the 28th Division Support Command as a Radio Operator/Maintainer.
His significant assignments in the DISCOM were as a Senior Radio Operator, Equipment Receiving/Parts Sergeant, and Material Management NCO. He transferred to the 213th Area Support Group in October 2006 where he served as the Defense Reutilization Management NCO until he was appointed to First Sergeant on February 1, 2009, and subsequently served the Headquarters and Headquarters Company in that role until the unit reorganized on September 1, 2011. He was then assigned as the First Sergeant of the 213th Personnel Company until his selection for Sergeant Major in the Intelligence and Sustainment Company, G4, 28th Infantry Division in April of 2013. In less than a year in the G4, he was selected to serve as the Command Sergeant Major of the 228th Brigade Support Battalion in Sellersville, PA. He served in that position from January of 2014 and lead the unit through reorganization to the 55th Brigade Support Battalion, 55th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. On February 1st 2017 CSM Campbell assumed duties as the 213th Regional Support Group Command Sergeant Major.
CSM Campbell was selected to serve as the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major, which he began on July 1, 2021. In this position he is the principal advisor to the Deputy Adjutant General-Army, and staff on matters pertaining to the enlisted Soldiers of the PA Army National Guard.
CSM Campbell has completed all levels of NCOES most recently a 2015 Graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education from Shepherd University. CSM Campbell’s military affiliations include the Allentown Chapter of the Honorary First Defenders, US Army Signal Corps.
He works as a Department of the Army Civilian, Level 3 Certified Acquisition Professional with a specialty in Information Technology and is a CECOM Contracting Officer Representative.
