Pa. National Guard troops recognized for Gracedale Nursing Home mission

Soldiers and Airmen from the Pennsylvania National Guard were recognized for their work and service to support the Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth, Pa. The recipients were (Left to right) Spc. U.S. Army Spc. Kylee Pavlick, combat medic with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade, receives a coin from Col. Howard Lloyd, commander of the 28th ECAB. Pavlick works full-time as a nurse at Geisinger Holy Spirit, a hospital near Harrisburg, and currently cares for COVID-19 patients.

The Pennsylvania National Guard hosted a virtual Wi-Fighter Challenge April 24 as part of DeSales University's Third Annual Cyber Security and Digital Forensics Conference. To maintain the physical interaction involved in previous exercises, the organizers mailed the first 50 participants to sign up a Raspberry Pi Kit, a mini computer popular with hardware hacking, which was the focus of the exercise. These Soldiers keep 28th ECAB safe as they prepare to deploy

Staff Sgt. Raymond Mutiso, a combat medic with the 108th Area Medical Support Company, 213th Regional Support Group screens a contractor outside the 28th ECAB Armory. The 28th ECAB is scheduled to deploy soon and must gather for training. Soldiers like Mutiso and Marianos screen 28th ECAB Soldiers everyday before they enter the building or start their training for the day to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the formation.

Health top priority as 28th ECAB continues to prepare for deployment

They continue to prepare for their Central Command Area of Responsibility deployment that is only months away despite the COVID event. Social distancing, hygiene and personal protective measures help to mitigate any risks as they proceed through the equipment draw.
